Complaints against Banks in the UAE

Getting compensation from a bank in case you are unhappy with its services is a tough deal. However, reputable and reliable banks always take the customer’s complaints very seriously as there is always room for improvement and the feedback from a client can be an important indicator of what has gone wrong within the institution.

How to make a complaint against a bank in the UAE?

The Central Bank of the UAE is the main regulatory body in financial matters of the state. One of its main tasks is to supervise the work of other bank institutions.

There is an online form you can use to file a complaint against the bank in the UAE and Dubai, in particular, on the UAE Central Bank’s official website. You have to specify your contact information, financial institution details and explain the reason whz you file a complaint in 100 characters. The form can be found here: http://www.centralbank.ae/en/index.php?option=com_jumi&fileid=45&Itemid=59. You can also call the Central Bank, fax your complaint to +971 2 6916004 or come to the office and submit it directly.

As soon as you file a complaint, you will get a reference number. You will be notified about the Central Bank’s decision via email or SMS. The task of the UAE Central Bank is to ensure that complaints made against banks in the UAE are dealt with quickly and thoroughly.

However, before filing an official compliant on the UAE’s Central Bank website, try to set things right with the UAE bank you’re unhappy with directly. Sometimes it is enough to make a phone call to the customer support service. In order to do that you need to prepare all necessary documentation. You will be asked to provide all supporting documents when complaining against a bank in the UAE.

As soon as you have filed a complaint, a bank typically has about 8 months to react to it and set things right. If you are still not happy with the official response you’ve received from your bank and you haven’t managed to settle everything right directly, you can take a step further and bring your complaint to the next level – contact either the UAE Central Bank or your ombudsman (an official appointed by the government to deal with such cases). The ombudsman’s services are free of charge. The ombudsman will help you to deal with your complaint filed against a bank in the UAE.

Since the work of the banks in the UAE is closely monitored and regulated by the UAE Central Bank and the government, your complaint made against a bank will be definitely considered and responded within the current legislation of the state.
